“I have been doing mobilization and children’s ministry for more than two decades,” shared Nosa Tukura, Weave’s ministry partner in Nigeria. “Most available resources focus on helping children grow up and be good Christians. These resources are specifically geared toward encouraging children to be partners in fulfilling God’s mission to the least reached. They are a unique contribution to the church.”
As a ministry of the CMM, Weave has been creating groundbreaking mobilization resources for families since 2014. In that time, they have exposed parents in 10 countries to the role God has for their family in completing the Great Commission through the Big Story Training.
But there has never been a simple path for families to apply the training’s principles at home in practical ways. As Reuben Kachala, director of Frontier Mission International in Malawi, put it, “The Big Story Training does a good job of providing a framework, passion, and ingredients in developing mission-minded families. Now families need a way to take that paradigm home.”
This year Weave published the Big Story Series to meet this global need and help parents live out that new paradigm with their families. This exciting new book series guides parents through the first steps in discipling their children in God’s global purposes. Families learn about God’s heart for the nations through interactive family devotions, grow in their understanding of world religions, engage with the stories of unreached peoples, and discover how to incorporate intentional habits into everyday family life that align with God’s purposes. Comprised of three books, the Big Story Series is designed to get parents started on their journey, giving them a framework for learning and discipleship that they can continue even after they’ve gone through the resources.
“Big Story Training participants will now walk away fully equipped, not only with knowledge and passion about family mobilization,” Reuben added, “but also with hands-on tools they can quickly and easily use to mobilize their families for the Great Commission.”
Global impact
The Weave team knew if families and leaders from around the world were included in the creation process of the Big Story Series, it would be better received and adopted by the global church. They invited mobilization leaders from nine countries to review content and give feedback throughout the series’ development stage. This provided essential cultural input from leaders working with the very families the resources were being developed for, as well as a sense of communal ownership.
The resources were also beta tested by 14 families in seven different countries. Each family provided feedback on how they used the resources and how their family was impacted. “After learning about the unreached,” said Ana, a mother from Costa Rica, “my 9-year-old son decided he wanted to pick an unreached people group and pray for them every day until they are reached!”
Our dream is to see thousands of families just like Ana’s committing to pray, go, send, welcome, and mobilize until the unreached are reached. The Big Story Series provides practical tools for families around the world—including yours—to do just that.
All three of these books can be either purchased or downloaded for free so you can begin discipling your children toward the nations today. Don’t miss out on the role God has for your family to play!
